Navigating the lush landscapes of Vanaheim in God of War Ragnarok reveals numerous side quests, known as Favors, that reward thorough exploration. Among these optional endeavors, the Path of Destruction quest stands out as a clever puzzle-hunting mission located in The Jungle region. Completing this Favor requires players to track a massive beast, solve an environmental cage puzzle, and defeat a formidable Drake named the Slag Horn.

Unlocking the Path of Destruction Quest

Before embarking on this quest, players must complete the Return of the River main Favor to flood the region and make river travel possible. Once the waters are restored, take a boat to the eastern side of The Jungle dock to access the territory. Squeezing through a narrow stone gap near large footprints triggers the quest automatically.

Solving the Cage Trap Mechanism

After discovering the empty nesting grounds, drop down into the central pit to find yourself trapped inside a metal cage. To escape, throw the Leviathan Axe at the wooden contraption above to raise the cage bars, then quickly freeze the lower gear before they drop. Once outside, navigate to the nearby wild Gullons and carefully lure them back into the open cage. Recall the Leviathan Axe to lock the creatures inside, then pull the nearby wall chain to lift the cage and draw out the sleeping Drake.

Defeating the Slag Horn Boss

With the bait in place, return to the upper nesting area by retracing your steps or taking the boat back around. Upon arriving, the giant Slag Horn Drake will initiate a fierce encounter featuring heavy bite attacks and sweeping tail strikes. Sticking close to its sides while utilizing fire abilities and targeted spear detonations will quickly break its guard. Once defeated, players earn rare crafting resources, including a Dragon Claw and the Regenerating Essence amulet enchantment.
