Tracking down Impa in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a key objective for players completing the grand narrative of Hyrule. While she initially travels around the map to examine ancient markings, her position shifts dynamically as you make progress in the story. Understanding where to find Impa after collecting all Dragon's Tears requires checking a few specific campaign milestones.
Finding Impa in the Forgotten Temple
Once you collect all of the Dragon's Tears across Hyrule, Impa does not return to her village right away. Instead, she moves deep inside the Forgotten Temple located in the Hebra canyon. You can find her standing near the large wall map in the inner shrine area.
Speaking with Impa at this location triggers key dialogue regarding the fate of Princess Zelda and the true nature of the Light Dragon. After this conversation concludes, Impa expresses her intention to head back home. This interaction is mandatory if you want to advance her personal storyline further.
Returning to Kakariko Village
Although Impa announces her plan to go home, she will only reappear in Kakariko Village under specific main story conditions. She resides on the second floor of the main Chief's house, sitting peacefully in the attic. Players often check her house early only to find it empty if primary story flags are still pending.
To guarantee her return to Kakariko Village, players usually need to clear major campaign events like resolving the regional crises and completing the Secret of the Ring Ruins questline. Once these major objectives are fulfilled, Impa remains in her house permanently for the rest of your playthrough. Visiting her offers additional lore insights regarding the ancient history of Hyrule.
Main Story Progression Requirements
Players who cannot locate Impa after visiting the Forgotten Temple are likely blocked by incomplete main quests. Advancing the main story unlocks her presence across key locations. Completing primary temple bosses and advancing regional quests will reliably update NPC locations throughout the realm.
If you have satisfied the primary narrative steps, check the upper floor of the Kakariko Chief's house once more. She will be waiting there to offer final thoughts on your journey. Following these steps ensures you resolve her questline seamlessly while uncovering the complete history of Hyrule.
